Windows Server Pilot Available in Amazon Cloud

Is the announcement by the Amazon EC2 Cloud Service of the immediate availability of the Microsoft Windows Server® License Mobility Pilot evidence that there is an increasing amount of flexibility in licensing terms in the Cloud?

Our view: The pilot program enables companies with Microsoft Enterprise Agreements to migrate their existing Windows Server licenses to Amazon EC2. Amazon claims that this can reduce the cost of running EC2 Windows On-Demand and reserved instances by up to 41%. After 90 days you can move the licenses back to your own premises if you wish to do so.

The only drawback from our perspective is that the offer is only open to companies that are based in, or have a legal entity in the United States.
