Microsoft is to launch its unified communications (UC) platform, Lync, on 1st December.
Lync combines instant messaging, video conferencing and voice-over-IP capabilities, and is intended to act as the centre of an organisation’s communications.
Lync will offer domain federation, allowing users in one company to communicate with external companies.
Lync will also integrate with Microsoft Office 365 which is to be launched next year.
Microsoft claim big name signings for Lync including Boeing, Estee Lauder, Shell, France Telecom, Marquette University, Nikon and Dow Corning.
